new beginnings have begun

It certainly has been a while since i posted. The house has been packed up and is now up for rent. we have had some interest so hopefully it wont be empty for long and we will get good tenants. It is all very rl now! it was a very emotional time packing and leaving our home, thehoh use we chose toger,  the home that we created  as a newly wed couple, that we brought our puppy home to and our babies home to, p ome that we made many wonderful changes to and have worked so hard to make a simple little house our family home . We have been so fortunate to have some fantastic neighbours over the yeasrs of whom we will miss dearly. the last few weeks havebeen full on trying to get everything done but it is done and we have said farewell to our dear friends and family and started our journey. Our Brissie bucket list had a few things ticked off and some not but oh well. The kids finished school and were very sad to leave their friends but are looking forward to seeing what is on offer in Katherine.

We set off on our road trip on Thursday and drove to LONGREACH  where we are staying with Brad's family which is nice . we are hoping to leave and head to Camoweel Tuesday or Wednesday to arrive in Katherine Thursday. we get the keys to our house on the 9th so it is all sorted and ready to get underway. I have a job with the nt government which I am very excited about and have the op

Brisbane Bucket list....

Since we only have half a year left here in Brisbane, we have been putting together a mental brisbane bucket list. Some of the things on our list are not necessarily Brisbane exclusive but things that will not be on offer in  the NT. Some we have done recently and the rest we hope to do. They are in no particular order

1. Walking With Dinosaurs- Ethan loves Dinosaurs so it was his Birthday treat and a "boys" night out. Ehan was mesmerised by it and I think Brad was pretty impressed too.
2) A trip to Montville- This was a belated wedding anniversary celebration for us. Montville and the Sunshine coast hinterland has been on our list of places in south east Queensland to visit for a long time and for some reason we have never been. We decided to visit and stayed in the lovely tee tops cabins. it was the nicest weekend montville is a gorgeous town, we also did the Kondalilla falls walk too which was pretty awesom.  we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definately visit Montville sometime in the future.

3) Miley Cyrus concert- Jazzy and I had a girls night out with her friend from school and her Mum to see Miley Cyrus in concert. Since the NT don't get the big acts visit we are trying to catch as many concerts as we can before the end of the year. To say Jasmine loved it seems like an understatement, it was a great concert and it was delightful to see our girl experience such joy and excitement!
4) Again on the music scene, the amazing Aussie talent Pete Murray announced a fairly impromptu tour prior to his new album being released in September. I received an email as I am on the Pete Murray Mailing list and jumped at the chance to see hime live again- he is awesome and certainly did not dissapoint. the venue was the old museum, amazing place and it was such a great concert- Pete said that he decided to put them on as he and his new band are in the rehearsal stage and thought that it would be fun to rehearse in front of people, it was really relaxed and fun and I love his new songs- the new album is going to be a cracker I think!!!

Ok onto things that we have not yet done-
5)  a Brisbane reace day at Doomben
6) Go to the beach
7) visit Australia Zoo
8) Visit and bushwalk in Giraween National Park Stanthorpe
9) Riverfire - the whole hog- claim a spot at southbank or kangaroo point in the morning and soak up the riverfire spirit!
9) Do the Myer City Christmas windows and Santa Visit
10) visit the Planetarium
11) The Ekka!!!!!!
12) visit the Ipswich and Brisbane Art Gallery
13) A Breakfast BBQ in the park somewhere in Brissie with Family and friends. I remember going to the lions club BBQ breakies in the park when I was a child and loved it.

At the moment that is all I can think of for my Brissie Bucket list. I am more than happy to take suggestions if you have any!

Torture........

Not everything needs to be serious................Have you noticed how many gorgeous coats are in the shops at the moment? Oh my goodness- the colours and styles are just devine!!  Anyone that really knows me, would know that I have a huge weakness for coats (and shoes and Handbags) I don't wear Jumpers and rarely cardigans but I love coats. When we move, my beloved coats will be packed in a box probably never to see the light of day again, when winter up there is like  Summer here, there really is no need for coats! Apparently Katherine is also not the High heel shoe type of town so at least my shoes can keep my coats company :)  So now I am reduced to window shopping and admiring from afar and as the title suggests it really is torture LOL!!!!

A New Start.

I very much lost the desire last year to blog and scrapbook. Life got busy and whilst I would have loved to reignited my blog, I made the decision to focus on other things. The direction of my blog has changed now with most of my posts dedicated to our move to the Northern Territory in 2012. I have decided that I would like to record my thoughts and feelings and experiences that we will have over the next few years and once we are in our new location this will be a great way to communicate our adventures! I will still share some scrapbooking creations every now and then too! Enrolling in uni  and continuing to work full time has seriously starved me of quality scrapping time so the layouts are not as frequent as previous years (sadly the scrapbooking shopping still is though!!)

So where do I start the 4th of May we received Official notification that our transfer is happening. Brad starts work in Katherine on January 16th 2012. As I have said many times, I have good weeks where I am really excited and ready for the adventure and the opportunities to see an amazing part of Australia that I have not seen and then there is the bad weeks where the sheer scale of the move and everything that needs to be done and the fact that I will be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy out of my comfort zone away from my family and amazing friendship and support network totally slaps me in the face and I want to crawl under the doona and stay there.

I am a city girl through and through and proud to admit it. I have lived in Brisbane my whole life and have lived in 2 houses yep you read right 2 houses- the one I grew up in and the one we live in now. I am a bit of a sook and happy to admit that I am a little anxious. Moving to a town of under 10 000 people with not much more than a woolworths and Target Country will be a culture shock for me LOL . Brad often reminds me with the cheeky grin and little giggle, that there is no Gloria Jeans in Katherine...................... Nooooooooooooo, how am i expected to survive without my Very Vanilla Chillers? Seriously, I think It may be touch and go for a while, my little body cannot  function without that icy, coffee-ee, vanilla-ree, creamy goodness! LOL!!

For the first time since I was 15, I will be unemployed. This in itself is a huge thing for me. I have always had a job, even when I was doing the stay at home mum gig.  My amazing boss at my current job has suggested that I can take unpaid  leave............ for 3 years, and while it is oh so tempting, it isn't really fair on them is it ;) I am hoping to complete my degree by the end of this year so I am in a good position to get a decent job.

The kids are coping ok. Ethan is totally cool with it, I am not really sure he totally understands that it is a permanent "holiday" Jazzy on the other hand is worried about leavingher friends and swimming squad. She is getting excited though. The Promise of lots of camping and 4- wheel driving has sweetened the deal though!

The next big task for us is finishing of the house and getting it to a rentable state! hmmmmmmmmmm small task???? NOT!!! Then we need to do an inventory of everything we own that we will be taking with us- huge scary task, definately a whole other blog post.

Looking forward to sharing more but best be off now.
